The Viva gateway requires power and an internet connection to function. If the gateway loses connection to the internet, it will continue to control heating and home security automatically, and local control from battery-operated switches will continue to work, but video streaming and recording, remote control through the app, and notifications will not work. Once an internet connection is reestablished, the Viva gateway and connected products will re-connect automatically.

If the gateway loses electrical power, the system can't behave normally and the devices will lose their smart abilities.
