Zigbee is a low-power wireless protocol for controlling and monitoring devices designed for homes. While similar to more familiar wireless types like WiFi or Bluetooth, Zigbee is designed to require very little energy, which means that Zigbee devices can operate on battery power for a long time. Zigbee uses the 2,4GHz and 868MHz frequencies. The connection between Zigbee nodes takes 30ms compared to Bluetooths 3 seconds.

Some of of the products that operates on the Zigbee network that the Viva platform supports includes Ikea Tradfri and Philips Hue.

We currently support having 230 Zigbee nodes in the network on the NA582 gateway and 150 Zigbee nodes on NA502/S.
