The NA502S Smart Home Gateway enables secure and smart control of home security, heating, lights, and devices. It grants full access to all features offered through a user's subscription plan.

It can support a selection of devices using the Z-Wave, ZigBee and WiFi protocols.

ZigBee has a physical range of 10 to 20 meters approximately.

By inserting a Mini SIM card into the SIM slot in the compartment underneath the gateway, 3G connectivity can be used (Limitations may apply based on subscription plan levels).

It has a  2500mAh battery which can provide up to 4 hours of battery life. There is also a speaker button on the top of the gateway which is currently deactivated.

Gateway indicator LEDs

A selection of LEDs can be seen on top of the gateway. These will light up a stable green when the related service is active. It does not blink or display other colors. During a standard boot up, the light up sequence is as follows:

LED 1  (power) -> LED 2 (internet) or LED 9 (3G) -> LED 4 (Z-Wave) -> LED 5 (Cloud connectivity) -> LED 6 (ZigBee)

Important: For a normal usage of the gateway, at least LEDs 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 should be ON.

Gateway front buttons
On the front of the gateway, there are two inactive buttons, labelled Select and Sync, an inactive microphone, and a Reset button which should not be used by customers without help from customer support.
Pressing the reset button will result in the following behavior:
  • One second - Reboot the gateway.
  • Thirty seconds - Factory reset the gateway.

Gateway ports
On the back of the gateway, there is the power plug, RJ-45 ethernet connector (10/100/1000Mbps), and a USB port (currently disabled). An internet connection is required for operation. It can be received through Ethernet, or as backup through 3G if a SIM card is inserted.

Gateway internal compartment
Unscrewing two Phillips head screws at the base of the gateway, gives user access to the internal compartment containing the battery, GSM SIM slot, and On/Off restart toggle. There is also a Tamper switch which is currently disabled. If the battery is charged, the On/Off restart toggle is required to manually restart the gateway.

The battery is user-replaceable, but requires a special battery ordered from the manufacturer.

To insert a SIM card, follow these steps:

Gateway WiFi functionality
The NA502S smart home gateway can also serve as a simple 802.11b/g/n and 802.11a/n/ac 2.4GHz/5GHz WiFi gateway with WPA2 security. This can be activated through the app and can operate using either ethernet or 3G connectivity (Limitations may apply based on subscription plan levels).

WiFi settings can be found under Settings > WiFi in the app. By activating WiFi, the system activate both 2.4GHz/5GHz networks, and will automatically generate a single SSID and password for both. There is currently no way for users to change these settings.

Security and connectivity

All smart home and video streaming communication from the NA502S gateway is done through a secure and dedicated VPN channel to the cloud service.

Rebooting the gateway

If necessary, the gateway can be rebooted by removing the power cable, opening the internal compartment as described above, then turning the On/Off switch to off and then to on again. Afterwards, reattach power, and close the internal compartment.
